1612 City Lofts is located in the heart of the burgeoning Downtown Bakersfield Arts and Entertainment District. “The District” is home to two live local dinner theaters, the magnificently restored Fox Theater, several art galleries, the Rabobank Convention Center and Arena and the Bakersfield Ice Center.

Many of Bakersfield’s top restaurants and cafes are located within a 3 block radius of 1612. Several bar and nightlife venues are also nearby. The historic Wall Street Alley featuring the renowned Guthrie’s Alley Cat Bar and several other eateries is just steps away. The “Alley” and Guthrie’s have been featured on such programs at Huell Howser’s “California’s Gold” on PBS and NBC’s “Today”. Several national publications have also highlighted this local treasure.

The District is also home to several coffeehouses, elegant boutiques, and beautiful art galleries. The ground floor of 1612 has some of Downtown’s most prominent and unique businesses. Anchored by Metro Galleries, one of the Valley’s most prestigious art galleries, it represents well-known as well as emerging artists of California. Metro will soon be home to Metro Lounge, an upscale wine and coffee bar. The lounge will offer organic coffee and teas, mid to upper end wine, and lunches by the famous local legend, Luigi’s Delicatessen. Delectable small plates of gourmet items and private wine storage for rent will also be standard fare at the new Metro Lounge.

Jezabelles, on the corner of 19th & Eye in the 1612 City Lofts building is a boutique fashion experience with very unique items from all over the globe. Jezabelles also sells local designers’ fashion in addition to True Religion jeans and the highly sought after Hudson denim. Milly, Rebecca Taylor, Susanna Monaco, and Lily Holt of Palm Beach are other lines carried at Jezabelles.

Ellie Jaye's is local family owned company that brings to life a trendy and unique yet affordable boutique for the modern kid.

Next to Ellie Jaye's is Dance Stop. Stop in to register for adult or children dance classes at 1610 19th Street. The Dance Stop students also participate by performing during downtown events.

From inside your new loft you will be just steps away from enjoying beautiful art, a great glass of wine, or cup of espresso on the patio of Metro Galleries… and enjoy numerous restaurants, boutiques, and other entertainment venues.

Downtown is also home to First Fridays in the District, a monthly art and entertainment celebration, FLICS (Film Lovers International Cinema Society) a bi-weekly showing of foreign and independent films, the Summer Street Fairs, and a weekly Farmer’s Market. The Rabobank Arena hosts the CSUB Roadrunner basketball games, the Bakersfield Condors hockey team, the Bakersfield Blitz arena football team and the Bakersfield Jam basketball team and many major concerts and other major entertainment events.

Just a short distance away you can enjoy the amazing 30 mile long fully paved Kern River Bike and Jogging Path. The Path meanders along the banks of the Kern River from Interstate 5 through the heart of the city and on to the mouth of the Kern Canyon. Several excellent parks featuring volleyball, tennis courts and a disc golf and par workout course are located right on the path and just minutes away from 1612.

Historic Central Park is just 1.5 miles away. The park is home to huge trees, the nationally accredited Bakersfield Museum of Art and recently announced pending location for the United States Federal Court House. On the east end of Central Park, the Mill Creek Project is just starting to form, with housing and shops planned. One mile to the south is Beale Park, featuring the Beale Amphitheater, a gift to the people of Bakersfield in 1920 by Truxtun Beale. Thousands enjoy the concerts in the park each summer.
